I can not recount how many dollars and pounds I have seen wasted in a stable yard on horse blankets. I have worked in the USA and UK with horses and I still shake my head in disbelief at the countless times a day I would have to change a blanket on a single horse - to suit the owner. A horse blanket should be versatile enough that it keeps your horse protected in cold weather. If your horse lives out in a pasture and is not stabled, you ought to buy a blanket that is well insulated to keep him warm. A cooler or a sweat sheet is another blanket that is highly recommended for a horse owner. This blanket allows your horse to cool down and dry after being washed or exercised, but protects from draughts or chills.
Horse blankets have various designs and uses. You can buy several or you can buy one, only make sure that the blanket best suits your horses needs. You can then choose any color to your liking, provided they are made in that color.

Finding Peace in Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis"
Sometimes, the emotional moments in music just jump up and grab you.
Our choral director says that as performers we often have to suppress our emotions while performing so that we can concentrate on the singing. The audience should have the emotional experience while we do the work of creating the music. Ludwig Van Beethoven's Missa Solemnis that we performed this weekend requires a lot of concentration from the orchestra, chorus, and especially conductor for the entire concert. I am a member of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and we sang this wonderful opus three times this weekend on the NMSO's Classics Concert series. While the whole experience of singing with a wonderful orchestra is spiritually uplifting, there are times when the emotions in a performance can be overwhelming.
Night Lights
For me, this happened in our second performance on Saturday night during the last movement, Agnus Dei. While we were singing "dona nobis pacem," "grant us peace," I started getting choked up enough that I had a hard time singing for a few moments.
Finding Peace in Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis"
Beethoven lived in a time where there never was any peace. He supposedly was hiding in a basement when Napoleon attacked Vienna. Beethoven also lived with many painful physical maladies in addition to losing his hearing. If anyone had the right to be angry and depressed it was Beethoven. But he wrote believing in peace. In the score he even wrote that we should sing to pray for "inward and outer peace." As we sing, we just about believe that the outward peace will actually come, then Beethoven abruptly changes to martial music to remind us that war is still here. Our pleas for pacem become quiet and personal, probably to ask for the inward peace in spite of the outward war. After one last hopeful "dona pacem," the music just stops about six bars later, without the usual Beethoven big, exciting ending. It may mean that Beethoven knew that the prayers for peace will never end.
Nearly 200 years later, we are still praying for the same peace that Beethoven sought.
While we are supposed to making sure we sing the right notes at the right time, it is sometimes easy to be swept up in the emotion of the moment. For me, it's not just the pleas for peace, but gratitude for the opportunity to sing in the presence of such wonderful music. As musicians, we hope that we can temporarily bring some peace and light into the world to honor the brilliance of the man who could write such music when peace was so hard for him to find.

8 Signs He is Just Not Into You!
I realize I am violating "Code 46 article III" in The Book of Man Law which prohibits the dissemination of information on known male methods and practices to females. In addition to that I am highly compromising my own well being and will probably need to be in witness protection to hide from a dangerous female backlash. In any case here are the signs!
1. Late night call: If a guy is into you, there is an interesting window in which he will send texts or call you. This is between 1200pm and 5:59pm. Earlier than noon makes him look desperately pathetic and possibly jobless. After 11pm is the official booty call zone. He has definitely failed in every other attempt to court a female he actually likes. After 2am constitutes a felony booty call. Confronted with failure, you are the last ditch effort; the proverbial Hail Mary pass.

2. Seriously I didn't notice you were next to me: If a guy likes you he will quickly show you off. If he hesitates introducing you to people, he is hoping to avoid ridicule. He is hoping that you will pass for a retail store manikin standing next to him modeling an empire waist blouse.

3. Karen...No...Katie...oh...Sandra! I mean this one is rather obvious. If you meet him more than twice and he can't remember your name, this is an issue. He is probably hitting "Delete" then clicking on "Recycling Bin" and finally selecting the "Empty Recycle bin" option every time you meet.
4. Dark Night: Guys love to parade girls they are into. They will attend social events and functions with them. In all the aforementioned, there will be adequate light so people can actually see you. If he only walks with you in the dark, takes short cuts and looks suspiciously around as if he stole something you need to get the hint girl.
5. THE NO SHOW: He is not into you if he doesn't show up for your important events. Hold on ladies. I know some of you think everything you do is really important but some events are more important than others. For example, a "Sex in City" Marathon is certainly not as important as a "Walk For Cancer" fund raiser.
6. The Busy Bee: We are rarely too busy to see you. We are just doing something or seeing someone better. You will be surprised at the ability of the loins to manufacture free time!
7. Part of the Crowd: If a guy is into you, he will create someway to make you the focus of a conversation. He will refer to you, glance at you, tease you etc. If you feel like a piece of furniture in the group you should just hope someone brought furniture polish.
8. Risky with whiskey: When a guy has to be drunk to hang out with you, this is a dead give away that he is not into you. If he needs to consume alcohol to make you more attractive then his attraction is not genuine. After-all, inebriation has the ability to make even the worst ideas seem palatable at times.

Freeway Solar Panels for Night Lighting Safety to Motorists
In the state of New Mexico they are using freeway solar plant panels during the day to gather energy for night lighting on their freeways, which will enable a reduction in the number of deaths on the interstate in NM. This is being done to help with the alternative energy needs of New Mexico and is one of the initiatives that the government has sponsored.
Due to new innovations in solar energy technology, which develop five times the amount of energy for half the cost of the solar panels this finally makes sense. A few years ago the return on investment would not have been possible, but today it is.

There will be 22 modules that will hold up to four panels each which is enough to power up six to eight homes for a year and they will be a long interstate 25 and motorists can see that the state of New Mexico is indeed working on alternative energies. The panels will be 10 ft. square and are only one of a number of new projects to help diversify the energy needs of the state.

Musings of a Long Time Band Leader - Back Stage Banter
I've been leading bands of musicians now for quite awhile. I'm not going to reveal just how long. However let's just say that professional music has been my only ever career, I've toured over three of the five "tour-able" continents, and I am still at it today, somehow, supporting a loving family and still 'burning with fire for the cause'. In fact I am addicted, not only to the endlessly creative and entertaining projects that I engage with, but also to the atmosphere, camaraderie, and banter that is part of the job of being a Musician, and a Band Leader. Hopefully I can pass onto anyone who chooses to read some of my articles, musician or not, a chuckle and some insight into the world of the Working Musician.
The most common place for musicians to 'have a laugh', other than on-stage, is of course backstage. Most often just before taking to the stage, as the long waiting and hanging around backstage comes to a head; musicians are usually at their peak of wittiness. Most professional musicians I've ever worked with don't get nervous prior to performing on stage, however they definitely do get a charge through their system, which often manifests itself in a bit of 'toungue and cheek'.
